Mission and Job description

Industrial Design Competence Center, IDCC, is the global in house design firm for Epiroc. We are a brand driven design agency that specialize in: design strategy, product and service design within the physical and digital world of our customers, their customers and end users. We support our divisions in delivering value and meaningful experiences to the market.

As a member of an extraordinarily creative, motivated and talented team, you develop new products that are used in the mining globally. We need our engineers to be versatile and passionate to take on new problems as we continue to push technology forward. If you get excited about building new things and aren't daunted by the challenge of building something from scratch, then our team might be your next career step.

We are looking for a multi-disciplinary individual who can bridge the gap between front-end development and design, support continuous improvements activities within the Interaction Design team and collaborate with the Epiroc R&D development teams. One of your missions is to provide front-end coding expertise, and be ready to make our products better for our customers.

Experience & knowledge requirements

  • You have a Master/Bachelor design or equivalent extensive experience
  • Experience with web technologies (object-oriented JavaScript, HTML, CSS), and experience with the latest web standards including HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience in designing and implementing complex UIs
  • Good coding skills in different languages

To succeed in this role you have the ability to analyze and effectively communicate creative results and to develop design strategic procedures and processes. Experience from construction or mining related industry, relevant work experience in Interaction Design and a strong Interaction Design portfolio with examples or a brief description of your role in that project is considered an advantage. You also need to be a good communicator (English is our primary language). A good eye for spacing and typography is a must.

Personality

You have strong analytical skills, an unwavering commitment to quality, and a collaborative work ethic. You should live and breathe the fundamentals of Interaction design. You are accustomed to meeting strict deadlines and you are a strong team player having the ability to work and communicate across multiple disciplines. You manage your own time, and work well both independently and as part of a team. You are adaptable, proactive and willing to take ownership.

Epiroc sees different personalities, ethnic origin, gender, age, skills and experience as an asset. We see that the differences make the birth of new ideas and improvements, and this leads to innovation and sustained, long-term results. Because we work for gender balance, we encourage female applicants for this role.
